In India, the Science and Practice of occupational therapy and rehabilitation of the  physically  impaired  have  developed  in  the  last  six to  seven  decades.  The number  of  professionally  trained  occupational  therapists  is  far  from  adequate in the country. The  same  is the  case  with  their  required  skill  as  practicing therapists. Skill in any profession demands a high order of adequate training and background, as well as, the abilities developed by the professional institutions, which impart  such  training. The  gap  may  largely  be  bridged  by  good  literature  produced by  the  practicing  therapists  and  the  skilled  teachers  who  are  well  conversed  with  the  art  and  sciences  of  occupational  therapy.

In  India,  hardly  any  such  literature  in  the  field  of  occupational  therapy has  been  produced  so  far. This  book, I hope, will  provide  a  good  guideline to  the  student - therapists, the teachers and  the  practicing  therapists. The book does not confine to the subject of occupational  therapy alone but also provides an opportunity  to  the  readers  to establish  a  relationship  with other fields of rehabilitation  related  to  occupational  therapy.

I  have  the  privilege  of knowing the authoress and feel pleasure to express  that  this  is  a  good  work  of  her  capabilities  and  tireless  efforts.

There  has been a long - felt need in the history of development of occupational  therapy  in  this  country  for  such  contribution . I  feel  that the advantage is gained  by  the  readers  and  by  those  who  are  working  for rehabilitation  of  the  physically  impaired  will  be  manifold. I hope that a wide reading of  this  book  would  painstaking  work  produced  by  the  authoress.
